Check of serviceability of functioning of the gauge of temperature of a cooling liquid (ECT)

The thermoswitch includes the fan at certain temperature ОЖ. The switch should be checked up, if at a hot radiator the fan does not join. Before thermoswitch check be convinced of serviceability of its electroconducting (the Onboard electric equipment see the Head), and also the thermostat and a safety valve in a radiator cover. At any damage of the specified parts, the thermoswitch cannot work, since thus it does not heat up a cooling liquid.

The radiator fan can independently join at the switched off engine and the included ignition (position of "II" ignition key). Owing to processes of a heat-conducting path taking place in an impellent compartment, it can repeatedly occur. Therefore, whenever possible, at work in an impellent compartment it is necessary to switch off ignition.


  1. Merge cooling liquid.
  2. Separate a thermoswitch socket. On petrol engines a thermoswitch will screw in a radiator below about the right broad tank of system of cooling, and on the diesel engine - below at the left broad tank.
  3. Turn out a thermoswitch.
  4. Suspend a thermoswitch in a water bath and slowly heat up water.

Gauge ECT check

  1. Check up by means of an ohmmeter a thermoswitch chain. At the removed thermoswitch the current should not to pass (resistance infinitely). At the included condition of the switch the current should pass (resistance = 0 Ohm). At thermoswitch inclusion click should be heard distinctly.
  2. The thermoswitch should join at temperature about +100 hailstones.
  3. Allow liquids to be cooled in a water bath and check up, whether works a thermoswitch at temperature +95 hailstones.
  4. If the thermoswitch does not correspond to the parametres specified above, it is necessary to replace it.
  5. Screw a thermoswitch with a new sealing ring with effort of 20 Nanometers.
  6. Connect electroconducting.
  7. In installation end fill system of cooling and remove from it air.
  8. Warm up the engine and allow to it to work on single turns until the radiator fan will join. Once again check up level ОЖ.
