Removal, installation and check of serviceability of functioning of the thermostat

Do not open a cover of a radiator and do not remove the thermostat before full cooling of the engine! |
Removal Petrol models Models with engine SOHC
|
|
- Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
- Empty cooling system (address to the Head of Adjustment and car routine maintenance).
|
|
If be not going to fill in a new liquid in system, keep merged for the subsequent use. |
- Remove assemblage of an air cleaner with air lines (see the Head of the Power supply system, release and decrease in toxicity of the fulfilled gases).
- Ослабьте fixing collars also disconnect the top hose of a radiator from a cover established on the right on a head of cylinders of the thermostat.
- Uncover cases GRM, a belt of drive ГРМ with an intermediate roller, a cogwheel of a camshaft and a back cover of drive ГРМ.
- Remove from the case of the thermostat hose ОЖ, turn out fixing bolts and uncover the thermostat. The thermostat is sideways at a head of cylinders, under a camshaft cogwheel.

- Take the thermostat from the case, remove a sealing ring, - try to remember adjusting position of components.

Models with engine DOHC
|

- Disconnect a negative wire from the battery (see the Head of System of an electric equipment of the engine).
- Empty cooling system (address to the Head of Adjustment and car routine maintenance).

If be not going to fill in a new liquid in system, keep the merged liquid for the subsequent use. |
- On engines of 1.0 and 1.2 l remove an air inlet sleeve. Establish capacity under a branch pipe of a cover of the thermostat.
- Ослабьте fixing collars also disconnect the top hose of a radiator from a thermostat cover.
- Turn out fixing bolts and remove the case together with the thermostat built in it. On engines of 1.4 and 1.6 l remove a sealing ring.

- Remove the storage battery with a basic arm (see the Head of System of an electric equipment of the engine).

- Before definitively to affirm as opinion on a thermostat exit out of operation, check up level of a cooling liquid in system, a condition and effort of a tension приводного a belt (see the Head of Adjustment and car routine maintenance), and also serviceability of functioning of a measuring instrument of temperature.
- One of the possible reasons of too slow warming up of the engine (according to measuring instrument indications) is thermostat jamming in open position. Replace the thermostat new.
- In case of an engine overheat touch a hand the top hose of a radiator. If the hose not нагрет, probably, the thermostat is jammed in the closed position, blocking circulation of a cooling liquid through a radiator. Replace the thermostat.

- Estimate size of full opening of the valve, - the rating value makes b - and = 8 mm.

Installation

- Installation is carried out in return sequence. Pay attention to following moments the following.
- Carefully smooth out interfaced surfaces and replace sealing elements;
- Place the thermostat in a casing, it is correct it сориентировав;
- With demanded effort tighten bolts of fastening of a cover;
- Restore initial connection of all hoses and electroconducting (where it is required, establish into place removed gauges);
- Fill in in system cooling liquid (address to the Head of Adjustment and car routine maintenance);
- Start the engine, warm up to working temperature and be convinced of absence of leaks.
