The Katalitichesky converter
All cars Corsa and Tigra with petrol and diesel engines are serially equipped каталитическими with converters for clearing of the fulfilled gases of the engine.
The Katalitichesky converter has the central ceramic part of a cellular design covered with a layer of salts of precious metals, operating as the converter. The Katalitichesky converter is fixed in the case by means of изоляционного the basic layer compensating simultaneously thermal expansions каталитического of the converter.
System EFI in a combination to a ljambda-probe carry out exact regulation of quantity of injected fuel that каталитический the converter could reduce quantity of harmful substances in the fulfilled gases. The Ljambda-probe is in a reception pipe before каталитическим the converter and is washed by a stream of the fulfilled gases. The Ljambda-probe represents an electric measuring element which defines concentration of oxygen in the fulfilled gases by means of change of pressure and allows to correct quality of an air-fuel mix, thus. During a fraction of a second the ljambda-probe can transmit corresponding signals on ECM that allows to correct continuously quality of an air-fuel mix depending on change of service conditions (the idling, full gas). Thus optimum reburning of fuel in каталитическом the converter is reached.
That in каталитическом the converter at temperature 300 ÷ 800 hailstones. There could be a fuel reburning, the air-fuel mix should be grown slightly poor by air.
On petrol engines it is used three-componental каталитический the converter, allowing to lower the maintenance in the fulfilled gases монооксида carbon (WITH), hydrocarbon (NANOSECOND), and also оксидов nitrogen (NO x).
On diesel engines it is used oxidising каталитический the converter since oxygen regulation is not required. Such каталитический the converter reduces concentration окиси carbon and the hydrocarbon containing in fulfilled gases. Besides, it reduces a characteristic smell for diesel engines of the fulfilled gases.
The Katalitichesky converter and system EGR
Concentration оксидов nitrogen (NO x) in the fulfilled gases of engines of 1.0 and 1.2 l, and also DOHC 1.4 and 1.6 l from 09.1994 of release are supported on a low level to каталитического the converter thanks to system EGR presence.
System EGR valve on engines DOHC of 1.0 and 1.2 l is on the face party of a head of cylinders; on other engines it is on a final collector and copes ECM. Problem EGR consists in tap of a part of the fulfilled gases in chambers of combustion of the engine for the purpose of decrease in temperature of combustion and, thereby, decrease in concentration of harmful substances.
Clearing of the fulfilled gases by means of giving of additional air
Problem of giving of additional air in engines DOHC of 1.4 and 1.6 l since 09.1994 of release являетсяснижение concentration of harmful substances in the fulfilled gases of the engine at engine warming up. The electropump submits fresh air to final channels of the engine to provide reburning of not burnt down connections in the fulfilled gases. Thanks to it concentration of harmful hydrocarbons and окиси carbon is reduced. The temperature of the fulfilled gases thanks to what каталитический the converter gets warm faster Besides, raises and oxygen regulation starts to operate. ECM disconnects giving of additional air with activation of oxygen regulation approximately through 1 ÷ 2 minutes after cold start.
Security measures at operation of the cars equipped каталитическим with the converter
For an exception of damages of a ljambda-probe and каталитического the converter it is necessary necessarily follow following recommendations:
Use only неэтилированный gasoline. At erroneous refuelling этилированным it is necessary to replace with gasoline каталитический the converter and a reception pipe before it. Before installation of new elements it is necessary to spend, at least, two refuellings of a fuel tank неэтилированным gasoline.
Start of the heated-up petrol engine by pushing or towage is better for excluding. For this purpose use the auxiliary accumulator. Not burnt down fuel at ignition can lead to an overheat and destruction каталитического the converter.
Exclude frequent cold starts following one after another. Otherwise in каталитическом the converter not burnt down fuel which at heating burns down collects and, detonating, damages каталитический the converter.
At difficulties in engine start it is not necessary to include for a long time a starter since constant injection of fuel is thus made. Reveal and eliminate a cause of defect.
In the presence of malfunctions in ignition for identification of a source of malfunction exclude injection of fuel during starter inclusion. For this purpose disconnect the relay of the fuel pump located in a foot well of the forward passenger, before rack A, behind a lateral overlay.
Do not check a spark plug on a spark at their disconnected socket.
Do not disconnect ignition from any cylinder since thus not burnt down fuel gets in каталитический the converter.
At occurrence of faults in ignition do not raise number of turns of the engine and immediately eliminate malfunction.
Petrol and diesel engines
Do not put the car over a dry grass or foliage since разогретая in area каталитического the converter the release system can cause fire occurrence.
Watch that level of impellent oil did not exceed mark MAX on щупе its measurement. Owing to incomplete combustion oil can get in каталитический the converter and cause its malfunction.
